Make Dotted Lines in Illustrator! I love using dotted lines in design – even for coupons, why use a boring cut out line when you can make cute little round dots? Longer tutorial today (6½ minutes). It’s easy to make a dashed line in Illustrator – you just check Dashed Line in the Stroke Options box. That gives you the cut-out coupon, or “cut here” line. But how do I make round, dotted lines? The same way, just manipulate the Stroke options to change the shape of the dashes and the size of the gap in between.
Link Text Boxes in Illustrator CS6
Here’s a super-fast tutorial explaining how to link text boxes in Adobe Illustrator CS6. Using your Type Tool, click and drag on your artboard and paste (Command V) your text inside. Look for the little warning red plus sign box at the bottom right of the text box, and using your black arrow click only on the plus sign. Your cursor will turn into a little page icon. Click anywhere else on the artboard and Illustrator will create another text box the same size as your first one and automatically fill it with the rest of your text. Easy!

Make Polka Dots in Illustrator using the Pattern Maker Tool
Here is a 5 minute tutorial demonstrating how to make polka dot pattern swatches in Adobe Illustrator CS6. I remember the days when we had to create our own polka dot swatches in Illustrator by chopping up circles and aligning them into a seamless pattern – ugh! Since then, the Pattern Maker tool in Illustrator has made this loads easier. It comes with tons of options, I am just outlining here the quickest, simplest way to make a great polka-dot pattern for your graphics that you can save in your Swatches palate and use again and again.
