Make Sketchy Type in Illustrator
This Illustrator Tutorial will show you how to get a sketchy, indie, grungy, hand-drawn – whatever you want to call it – effect with your type in Adobe Illustrator CS6. It’s another longer tutorial today – sometimes I just can’t stop talking…
Getting a sketchy effect with your type in Illustrator is easy. You don’t have to outline it, so you can change fonts and styles very quickly and easily before deciding on your final design. Just keep 2 windows open while you work: the Appearance dialog box and the Graphic Styles dialog box. One you create your sketchy effect for your font you can save the effect and use it on anything else: shapes, imported vectors, hand-drawn squiggles and more.
Don’t be afraid of opening up different dialog boxes – these tools only exist to help you navigate around the artboard with confidence and a skill level near wizardry.
Making type effects in Illustrator is fun! Enjoy.
