Get Rid of the White Background in Photoshop to Illustrator
In this tutorial I will show you how to get rid of the white background in your Photoshop file that shows up in Illustrator even when you have painstakingly edited it out.
It’s absurdly simple!
Have you ever placed your Photoshop image into Illustrator after having cut out the background, and it appears with a solid white background? Sure, you can set the transparency to Multiply but then the entire image becomes transparent. There is no trick to it, my dears. You simply have to save your Photoshop files as .psd. Voila! No more white background; your cut-out object is floating beautifully in space, ready to place in your layout. Get Rid of the White Background in Photoshop to Illustrator!

Your background transparency settings in Photoshop may be set to “None.” Hit Command K (Mac) or Control K (PC) to bring up your preferences. In Transparency and Gamut settings make sure your Grid Size is set to anything other than “None” otherwise your background will be white. You want to see the checkerboard pattern in the background. I hope that helps!
